View up the Stono River
This medium sized oil painting depicts the view looking up the Stono from the south side of the inlet as it connects to the ocean. to the right will be Cole's Island and slightly further up, Snake Island. Well behind this scene to the right, is Bird Key, which represents a shorebird sanctuary where shorebirds roost from April to October, much live Deveaux Bank southward at the North Edisto Inlet. As one rises from this site, the Sol Legare Island arises on your right and John's Island on your left.
This sunny summer day was adorned by fluffy friendly clouds that allowed patches of sun and shade causing a variation of colors on both the treescape and marshscape.
