Moon Rising at North Folly Island at Lighthouse Inlet 30 X 40"
This larger painting is done in oil with additional acrylic. It is 30 X 40" and the scene is looking eastward as the moon rises through the deep purple and blue sky over the ocean.
That evening, a glorious sunset is fading behind you as a magnificent full moon is rising and reflecting the sun's glow. This moon came up like a almost imperceptible "ghost" until the sun began to fade leaving a glowing blue sky which set the moon up to shine on its own. It seems to travel so fast where it is on the horizon.
The ocean also changes from a relatively dull grey-blue to a glowing electric blue and reflects the moonlight. All the colors change gradually. The sand turns white to pink, The trees go from green and grey to Payne's gray, purple and shades of blue with an maroon red on some of the wood and trees. On a quiet evening such as this night the waves break gently and roll quietly in to shore.
This is oil on stretched canvas and weighs 6 pounds.
