Late Afternoon Shadows at Folly with Lighthouse 18 X 24"
Up at the very north end of Folly Island , there used to be a Coast Guard Station which has since disappeared leaving a "dead end" to the long East Ashley road that leads off of Center Street in the Town of Folly proper. There, the road is closed to motor vehicles near that end; however, you are welcome to walk and roam up here provided one cleans up after oneself. The road ends at these dunes which are heavily covered with shrubs and Palmettos. Over the dunes, by that sandy path seen in this picture, one can get a good elevated view of the inlet, Morris Island on the other side, and of the Lighthouse.
This afternoon scene shows what direct light and reflected light can do to the same structures. Just the top of the lighthouse can be seen here as the dunes are tall and vegetation thick.
