Not many tourists or ,for that matter, locals have made the journey north of Charleston to visit this remarkable lighthouse which is separated by a huge acreage of saltmarsh from the mainland. It's surrounded by a cluster of barrier islands and is generally fully exposed to the ocean and its unpredictable temper.
