Sunsetting Shadows on Penny's Creek 48" X 60"

Penny's Creek is an undulating and serpentine creek that enters the Stono just seaward of the bridge crossing from James Island to John's Island and near the St. John's Marina. After heading back towards John's Island, initially, it then takes an abrupt right turn, passing a lonely dock, and heads under the Maybank Highway connector, and then begins either towards Headquarter's Island or further up into the shoreline of John's Island proper. This scene is actually easily viewed from the bridge and it's connector and one can look straight down this portion of the river with the trees and marshes of John's Island in the background. How many commuters look at this scene each day as they head back home in the afternoon from their workday with little recognition of this beautiful creek. With all the noisy traffic above, it is hard to believe how natural this creek remains. If one has travelled to the northeastern US, it is rare to see such beauty maintained in their similar settings. Hopefully the immense surge of building on John's Island will not lead to the same destruction of this creek as have happened in the creeks and rivers where these new homeowners came from.
