Salt Pond St Helena's Twilight 9 X 12 "

Isolated salt ponds dot the marshlands all along the lowcountry coast and others are represented on this site elsewhere. Sometimes, the saltwater is trapped up against a sandy shore, but rarely runs dry. They may be flooded regularly by high tides, or maybe infrequently refreshed. This salt pond in St Helenas' Sound is depicted as twilight approaches and as the high clouds in the distance glow with the declining soft sunlight as the sun has drifted below the horizon Birds begin to "settle down" for the night and an earie solitude sets in.
